Report Illegal Content
Email [email protected] with the subject "Illegal content report", the exact URL, why it is illegal, and your contact details.
We confirm receipt without undue delay, review it with human judgement, and tell you what we decided and why.
If we removed your content you get a statement of reasons and can challenge it, with the courts and an Article 21 dispute body always open to you.
What this page is for
This is the notice-and-action mechanism of Article 16 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (the Digital Services Act). Use it to tell us that content processed, stored or transmitted through openshorts.app is illegal, including content that infringes copyright, trademarks, image rights or privacy. You do not need an account and you do not need a lawyer.
If your complaint is about your own account, your billing or your data, this is the wrong page: write to [email protected] and say what you need.
How to send a notice
Email [email protected] with the subject line Illegal content report, in English or Spanish. So that we can act on it without having to come back to you, the notice needs:
- the exact URL or identifier of the material, precise enough for us to find it without searching;
- an explanation of why you consider it illegal, and under which law;
- your name and email address, unless the report concerns child sexual abuse material or offences against sexual freedom, which may be sent anonymously;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the information in the notice is accurate and complete.
If you are the rightsholder or act for them, say which of the two you are. A notice that contains all of the above gives us actual knowledge of the content, which is what triggers our obligation to act.
What happens next
We confirm receipt of your notice without undue delay. We then review it diligently, without arbitrary decisions, and with human judgement rather than an automated rule. When the notice is substantiated we remove or disable access to the material, and we tell you what we decided and why. If we decide not to act, we tell you that too, and why.
Notices that are manifestly unfounded, or that come from someone who sends them repeatedly in bad faith, get their processing suspended after we warn the sender. Accounts that repeatedly upload infringing material are terminated.
If your content was removed
When we remove your content, restrict it, or suspend your account on these grounds, you get a statement of reasons under Article 17 DSA: what we removed, the facts we relied on, the legal or contractual ground, whether an automated system was involved, and how to challenge the decision.
To challenge it, reply to that message or write to [email protected]. A person reviews it, not a filter. You also keep two routes that do not depend on us at all: an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under Article 21 DSA, and the courts. Nothing on this page limits either.
Copyright notices from the United States
The procedure above covers copyright complaints wherever you are. If you prefer to send a formal notification under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, section 9 of our Terms of Service names our designated agent and lists what section 512(c)(3) requires the notification to contain.
Point of contact
